Pregnancy Update

Well I am 39 weeks today and Finally dilated 1 cm! The doctor said that I was also effaced 50%. We had a slight scare on Friday night which put me in the hospital until 4:30 Saturday morning...but no baby yet! :) I have been feeling fine since then...but here in the last couple of hours been feeling looots of pressure! Whatever that means! The doctor won't let me go until 41 weeks like I was hoping (just because I need to finish some rotations at school), so if little Barrett hasn't come on his own by next Friday, then his birthday will be September 18th, 2009! Mac has a huge ballgame that night against Russellville and Lizzie has 2 tests that day....so not the most convenient day for everyone, but we will make it work! :) Please continue to pray for a healthy baby boy and a very safe and easy delivery!! :)

Stroller and Carseat

Per the request of a couple of friends, here is the stroller and carseat that we got for Baby McKelvey!

This is the BOB Revolution stroller. Before I decided on a stroller and carseat, I read literally hundreds of reviews about every stroller and carseat that is available. For several reasons, these are my favorites and I cannot wait to put them to good use!! Oh, and when we went to Chicago, we probably saw 15 BOB strollers around the city! I hope that means I will like it as much as everyone else!! We also got the Combi umbrella stroller, I hear that it is awesome as well!

29 Weeks!!

Your baby now weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is growing bigger to make room for his developing brain. To meet his increasing nutritional demands, you'll need plenty of protein, vitamins C, folic acid, and iron. And because his bones are soaking up lots of calcium, be sure to drink your milk (or find another good source of calcium, such as cheese, yogurt, or enriched orange juice). This trimester, about 250 milligrams of calcium are deposited in your baby's hardening skeleton each day

2 YEARS :)

On June 30, Grant and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary :) I can truly say that they have been two of the most wonderful years of our lives, and not to be cheesy but we fall more and more in love each day! If you know both of us, you know that we are both very stubborn and passionate people to say the least...so without the Lord being the absolute center of our relationship, before marriage and to this day, we would be no where near the people we have become and would not at all have a very strong marriage. I know that we have so far to go, but I feel as though we are on the right track!!
This picture wasn't taken on the actual day we got married, I don't have any of the professional ones on my computer, but this is a picture that a good friend of ours, David Higginbotham, took a couple of months later. On the day we got married, we decided to wait until after the ceremony to see each other so needless to say we didn't get as many pictures of the two of us as we would have liked. Thats why we had more taken!

This WAS taken the day we got married :)

The night before we got married, another one of David's pictures...not sure what we are laughing about!

Baby Shower!!!

Last Friday night 9 of my best friends threw me a baby shower in Birmingham. It could not have been more perfect!! They did such a wonderful job on the food, decorating, and making sure everyone had a good time! I had so, so much fun!! I got to see some people that I haven't seen in a while so that made it all the more special.
One of the most wonderful people in the world, Mollie, drove from Atlanta to come see me. We cheered together in college and have remained the best of friends. I couldn't have gotten through it without her, really!! Unfortunately, she had to leave before I could get a picture with her :(. This was the first time I had seen her since my wedding, which she drove all the way from Charleston for!!! Wow!!
Also, two other of my best friends from high school drove in to see me as well, Katie Hill (from North Carolina!) and Rachel McAbee (also from Atlanta). I am so blessed with amazing friends!!
All of the hostesses, minus Nichla! :) Don't I have the most beautiful friends!!?

O.K...so I realize my dress is a tad short...I honestly didn't notice it was THAT short until I looked at all the pictures. This is actually not a maternity dress, so when I put a belt with it, it had a tendency to ride up a bit!! :) Haha, oh well!!

I thought these were soo neat and cute!! I am so going to use this idea!!

AMAZING food!!!

An attempt of a group picture...some people had already gone so unfortunately I didn't get everyone :(

28 Weeks!

A quick update from my last Dr.'s visit: Well, besides everything with the baby looking right on target, it's kind of funny because he put me on a "low-carb" diet! He told me I was gaining too much weight! I had gained 10 pounds in between 2 visits and he doesn't want that trend to keep going...this is all kind of ironic considering that his partner had been telling me in the beginning that I wasn't gaining Enough weight and had me drinking milkshakes, etc, like crazy! Haha, so to all of you who might not gain the correct amount of weight in the beginning...just wait, it will come!!! :) Oh, and we chose not to do the 4-D pictures...we want to be totally surprised when we see his sweet face!!
By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.

CHICAGO!!

Me, Lizzie, Grant, my mom, my granddad and my aunt Cindy all went to Chicago last week for the National Plastics Convention and had a blast! Lizzie and I pretty much shopped all day along with some sight-seeing here and there. We had sooo much fun! The food, the city, the atmosphere, the shopping, everything was awesome!! It is my new favorite city! I can’t wait to go back!!

In front of Lake Michigan

At the aquarium...it was fun but Atlanta's or Chattanooga's is much better!!

Yes mine was virgin... :)

27 Week Pictures!

27 weeks, 1 day...I'm growing! :)

This was taken at about 10:00 at night...I look pretty rough!

Our precious pups playing...one of the few pictures I have when they are both looking at the camera!!

27 Weeks!!

How Baby McKelvey is growing: This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with his legs extended. He's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing his eyes, and perhaps even sucking his fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While his lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if he were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother him, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

26 Weeks!!

My belly button is definitely sticking ALL they way out already!! Ahhh!!!

How your baby's growing at 26 weeks: The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your husband's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.

25 Weeks!

Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. His weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but he's beginning to exchange his long, lean look for some baby fat. As he does, his wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and he'll start to look more and more like a newborn. He's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.

A Quarter of A Century Years Old!!

This past Friday I woke up to this card and another one from Grant. I thought it was so sweet :) I have the absolute most WONDERFUL husband (and dogs) in the entire world. I am beyond Blessed!!!

I came home to Decatur on Friday afternoon and Grant had my birthday present waiting for me at his office. It was our carseat! I love love love it! It has great reviews and has been rated #1 in safety. It was really funny though because Grant and I had no idea how to use it...so my next door neighbor showed me what all the buttons meant and installed it into my car the next day! Thanks Annie!

24. 5 WEEKS!

How your baby's growing at 24 weeks: Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
